The Arctic landscape is both pristine and rich in natural resources (precious metals, minerals, diamonds, hydrocarbons, etc.) – factors by which are currently attracting attention in both the scientific, political, and economic spheres due in part to the fluctuation of the region’s climate.

Polarwarming.ca attributes its origin and continued growth from a research thesis undertaken through the Political Science program at Carleton University (2005). The research thesis assessed the relationship of the melting Arctic polar ice mass and its impact upon Canadian sovereignty.
